Travel Document – missing things

Well, I checked the Royal Mail tracking site this morning and my application had been received by the VAC. However, I’ve just received an email from them, saying that I’m missing a form and payment of the VFS fee – I’ve paid the visa fee, just not their fee for processing it.

Although I’m cross that I missed these bits, I’m really pleased by the response time from the VAC:

  • Sat 20th – Posted for delivery on Monday before 1pm
  • Mon 22nd – Tracked as delivered
  • 10.03am, Tues 23rd – VAC emailed 
  • 10.35am – I replied with the scanned form and my phone number
  • 10.46am – VAC phoned for payment

Also, I appreciate that they emailed me, I was able to email them a scanned copy of the form, and they phoned me for payment by credit card. If they’d sent a letter returning everything and I’d had to get another postal order, I would not have been happy!

However, although I realise now that the VFS fee was listed on their website, I still don’t see where I was asked for the Family Information Form!

Please read the email carefully as it is quite descriptive

This is to confirm that we have received your postal application at our Canada Visa Application centre, London. Your application is on hold due to the following required highlighted missing documents, by the High Commission of Canada, London:

- Passport
- Copy of biometric letter and biometric ID label
- IMM5524 (fully completed)
- 2 passport photos (stacked on top of each other) stapled on the bottom left of the form (staples are not to touch the head / facial area)
- Family Information Form (IMM5406)-must be thoroughly filled in and sign where applicable
- IMM 5476, if applicable
- IMM 5475, if applicable
- Copy of signed VAC Client Consent form
- Copy of bio-page passport
- Evidence  to support residency obligations have been met, or evidence to support humanitarian & compassionate considerations
* if applicable, evidence that you have been physically present in Canada for at least 2 of the 5 preceding years,
* if applicable, evidence that you have been employed outside Canada by a Canadian company for at least 2 of the 5 preceding years
* if applicable, marriage certificate or proof of common-law partnership, proof your spouse/common-law partner is a Canadian citizen, and that you have been accompanying your spouse/common-law partner outside of Canada for at least 2 of the 5 preceding years
* if applicable, proof your spouse/common-law partner is a permanent resident of Canada who is employed outside of Canada on a full-time basis by a Canadian business or by the federal or provincial public service in Canada
* evidence that you have been employed outside Canada by a Canadian company for at least 2 of the 5 preceding years.
* if applicable, a detailed explanation of and evidence to support any humanitarian & compassionate considerations that would justify your retention of Canadian permanent resident status despite a breach of the residency obligations.

- Visa fee £32
- VF service charge £22
- Confirm mode of collection

Required documents can be scanned and sent in a pdf format to this email address

For payment, you can make a postal order/demand draft/banker’s draft made payable to ‘Canada Visa Application Centre’ in GBP or over the phone using debit/credit card.

To make payment over the phone please provide the application centre with a proper day time contact number and the centre will call you between 10:30am-3pm UK time for the collection of the applicable fee.

Payments can only be taken once the applicant has sent the required documents and the application centre have received them

If you do not respond to this email within 5 working days your application will be deemed as no response from applicant and returned.

Please note: the processing time for Travel Document-Permanent Resident Abroad application is minimum 7 working days. Therefore advice against booking any travel plans until a formal result of your application has been received.
